What a day! Yesterday saw one of our stonemasonry apprentices Anthony Whitehead, celebrate the completion of his apprenticeship by winning the Worshipful Company of Masons’ ‘Master Craftsman Apprentice Award’.

Anthony, accompanied by directors James & Gary, travelled to London to join other award winners at the Egyptian Hall at the Mansion House, London, where the Lord Mayor of London, Alastair King presented the awards.

Anthony studied at York College to gain his stonemasonry apprenticeship, achieving a Distinction for his efforts in July 2024. In the same month he was awarded first place in the Regional Qualifier for Skillbuild 2024, and went on to compete in the National Final. Throughout his apprenticeship, Anthony has worked alongside his colleagues at Mono Masonry, producing architectural elements and complex carvings for a range of high profile projects. Anthony’s enthusiasm and dedication throughout his training has been exceptional, and was recognised by York College Stonemasonry tutor Paul Hill, who nominated Anthony for the award.

Congratulations Anthony, we can’t wait to see where you go from here!
